Sudharsan's Stellar Performance

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], April 10: Parthiv Patel, the assistant coach for Gujarat Titans, expressed that he is not at all surprised by Sai Sudharsan's impressive form in the ongoing IPL 2025, attributing it to the hard work the 23-year-old opener has put in during practice sessions.

Sudharsan has been on a remarkable scoring streak in this year's IPL, establishing himself as a formidable contender among batters vying for the coveted Orange Cap as the tournament's top scorer.

In a recent match against the Rajasthan Royals, he played a crucial role in securing a 58-run victory for the Titans. Unlike the explosive performances typical in T20 cricket, Sudharsan's approach was more measured, contrasting with Nicholas Pooran's aggressive style.

Currently, Sudharsan is just 16 runs shy of Pooran, who leads the run-scorers with 288 runs. Sudharsan's composed innings of 82 runs off 53 balls included eight fours and three sixes, achieving a strike rate of 154.72.

Patel noted that Sudharsan's recent success is a result of his dedication. He mentioned that during the lead-up to the IPL, Sudharsan often had to be pulled away from intense practice sessions.

“Having observed him over the past month, I can say he works exceptionally hard. His results are not surprising. There were instances when we had to pull him out of the nets. He keeps his game simple. In today's cricket, it's easy to get distracted by the need to hit sixes or maintain a high strike rate. However, he understands his strengths and plays to them, which is why he consistently performs well,” Patel shared with reporters after the match.

Sudharsan's explosive innings, along with valuable contributions from his teammates, propelled GT to a formidable total of 217/6, setting the stage for their bowlers to shine.

Prashidh Krishna showcased his speed, regularly hitting 145 kph, while Rashid Khan returned to form with two wickets for 37 runs. Sai Kishore also continued his excellent bowling, effectively dismantling the tail end of the RR batting lineup.

Despite the presence of other skilled spinners in the tournament, Patel believes Kishore stands out as the best spinner so far. “Siraj has been impressive, and Prasidh Krishna has been outstanding throughout the tournament. However, Sai Kishore is probably the best spinner in this tournament. His bravery and adaptability are commendable, and each game reveals a different aspect of his bowling,” he added.

Kishore has quietly made a significant impact, taking 10 wickets in five matches and is just one wicket away from matching Noor's tally of 11.
